What an incredible four weeks since it was decided to start MichianaTweetUp. The response has really been better than I anticipated, but it seems we”ve hit a real chord…people in the area are ready for a Michiana Tweet Up/Michiana Tweet Up. I truly am humbled by the outpouring of support and words of encouragement for what we have planned. (Please join us tonite at Gino’s East of Chicago Pizza in Granger from 6-8PM. If you notice, I will call it a MichianaTweetUP and then a MichianaMeetUp. I do that on purpose for a couple reasons:
1) When I started doing research on what makes a good tweet up, I had a number of tweetup organizers who said if they had to do again, they would’ve NOT called it a tweetup. It can, at times, alienate Facebook users or other social media users who are not using Twitter at all. If you are on Facebook and not on Twitter, does that mean you would not receive any value from participating in a MichianaMeetUp? Absolutely not. Social Media sites are mere platforms….a community. You can belong to one community, or belong to a number. It’s what you feel comfortable with really.
2) We are in the process of obtaining the URL MichianaTweetup dot com. It is dormant…rather its just being redirected to another site. The person owning it has expressed interest in selling it to us and we have extended a fair offer. Hopefully we obtain it quickly so as to avoid any confusion in the marketplace about who really is MichianaTweetUP. I haveseen what division can do to people just south of us in Indy where there are numerous Indy Tweet Up groups. Our followers deserve better than a Pandora’s Box of confusion.
So we’ll do a MichianaTweetUP brought to you by MichianaMeetUp. And as the days unfold, you will be amazed all we will start doing at MichianaMeetup.com. We are here for you and are only as strong as our followers. So I really need for you to participate and communicate. Show and tell us. We want to know and are looking forward to MichianaTweetUp by Michiana Meet Up being one of the best tweet ups in the country.
