How About Some Music? MichianaMeetup & WVPE Invite You To Meet Me on the Island

Didn’t it get to the point where it felt like summer would never arrive? Thanks goodness it has with the warm temperatures and the start of practically free concerts and events all throughout Michiana. MichianaMeetup is doing the next MichianaMeetup Michiana TweetUP together with our friends at 88.1 WVPE Public Radio on June 4th, 2010. Sizzling sounds of blues band music will kick off a summer entertainment series as 88.1 WVPE Public Radio along with the South Bend Museum of Art, as they present Meet Me on the Island.

After thinking about what would our folowers really want, we realized wy not do a non-traditional type of music tweetup? We thought it be more fun to hold the next MichianaMeetup MichianaTweetup enjoying the music of Kevin Q and the Night Crew with Venitia Sekema at Meet Me on the Island. If you’re not familiar with the band, they are known for their tight harmonies, a rhythm section you can set your watch to, and an unmistakable guitar sound; a sound that has kept Kevin Quarandillo a solid part of the Michiana music scene for many years.

So join us June 4th at the South Bend Museum of Art, located at 120 South St. Joseph Street (outdoors on Island Park) in Downtown SOuth Bend. Relax with great music and great views of the St. Joseph River and downtown South Bend, the sounds of a great blues band, along with concessions and cocktails available.

Next MichianaMeetup-MichianaTweetUP Is April 30th at Between The Buns Osceola

It has been a crazy week since our first #michianatweetup… many people sending DM’s and emails commenting how much they liked it and quizzing me where the next MichianaMeetUP -MichianaTweetUP will be?
We will hold the next tweetup Michiana on Friday April 30th at Between The Buns Sports Bar and Grill in Osceola. It will be a great central location for our friends in Elkhart and Goshen. Its large enough to hold a larger crowd which is always great. They are openeing up the Garden area and we will have the beauty of being indoor or outdoors.
We’re also going to try and hold it a little earlier and have it a little longer. It starts at 5:30pm and goes till 8:00pm. Make it a date night for the spouse or significant other and bring them to what’s turning out to be one of the hottest events for the area – MichianaMeetUP and MichianaTweetUP.

The Day Has Arrived…the First Michiana Tweet Up Happens Today!

What an incredible four weeks since it was decided to start MichianaTweetUp. The response has really been better than I anticipated, but it seems we”ve hit a real chord…people in the area are ready for a Michiana Tweet Up/Michiana Tweet Up. I truly am humbled by the outpouring of support and words of encouragement for what we have planned. (Please join us tonite at Gino’s East of Chicago Pizza in Granger from 6-8PM. If you notice, I will call it a MichianaTweetUP and then a MichianaMeetUp. I do that on purpose for a couple reasons:

1) When I started doing research on what makes a good tweet up, I had a number of tweetup organizers who said if they had to do again, they would’ve NOT called it a tweetup. It can, at times, alienate Facebook users or other social media users who are not using Twitter at all. If you are on Facebook and not on Twitter, does that mean you would not receive any value from participating in a MichianaMeetUp? Absolutely not. Social Media sites are mere platforms….a community. You can belong to one community, or belong to a number. It’s what you feel comfortable with really.

2) We are in the process of obtaining the URL MichianaTweetup dot com. It is dormant…rather its just being redirected to another site. The person owning it has expressed interest in selling it to us and we have extended a fair offer. Hopefully we obtain it quickly so as to avoid any confusion in the marketplace about who really is MichianaTweetUP. I haveseen what division can do to people just south of us in Indy where there are numerous Indy Tweet Up groups. Our followers deserve better than a Pandora’s Box of confusion.

So we’ll do a MichianaTweetUP brought to you by MichianaMeetUp. And as the days unfold, you will be amazed all we will start doing at MichianaMeetup.com. We are here for you and are only as strong as our followers. So I really need for you to participate and communicate. Show and tell us. We want to know and are looking forward to MichianaTweetUp by Michiana Meet Up being one of the best tweet ups in the country.

1st MichianaTweetUP Meets March 24 at Gino’s East of Chicago Pizza

If you’ve been on Twitter or Facebook for anytime you probably wondered when THIS area is getting it’s own TweetUp? Well, a few of us got together and brainstormed what is now called MichianaTweetUP.

The 1st Michiana TweetUP (hastag is #MichianatweetUP ) is going to be great. Why? Besides it being a novel way to meet the people you follow on Twitter and Facebook, you can also network people to people for business or friendship. It’s a very non-threatening and safe networking environment. We are all there wanting to meet each other.

It will be March 24th 6pm-8pm at Ginos East of Chicago Pizza in Granger. There will be complimentary beverages and complimentary appetizers. Cash bar is available.
 
Who’s invited to the MichianaTweetUP?
Everyone is welcome.  Now don’t let the word “Tweetup” frighten you. It’s a gathering of Twitter users, or “Tweeps”, that get together. Guess what? You don’t have to be on Twitter, or even know what Twitter is to come to #MichianatweetUP. Our goal is for people to have a good time and most likely they’ll want to sign up for a free Twitter account by the time they leave!

Our host, Gino’s East of Chicago Pizza in Granger, has also agreed to offer $50 gift certificate to Gino’s East of Chicago Pizza for the person who tweets the most using #michianatweetUP, @GinosEastGrngr and a link to the registration page (http://michianatweetup.eventbrite.com . You can tweet as often as you want, but only tweets from now until midnight on March 23rd  6pm the day of the tweet up will count. Winner will be announced at the event. Winner need not be in attendance.
